Wow, I haven't blogged in so long, I forgot how to add a new entry.

Anyway, few things in this world move me enough to write these days, but I woke up to the most depressing news over the radio - "The only U.S. exports these days are jobs."  What a "wake-up" call huh?  It was devastating to hear that!  Not that the topic of outsourcing to other countries is new to me... but it's hard to imagine how long we can continue living our life as we know it with the exploding deficit, increasing unemployment, and the downfall of manufacturing in America.  How do we take a stand against this?

Here's what makes me mad - the only ones who benefit from the outsourcing strategy is the companies themselves.  What I mean is, it's not like there's an influx of companies in China that are able to make comparable products to those of Hewlett-Packard or Dell.  So they don't have to drive prices down in order to compete in the marketplace.  And for companies like Sprint and AT&T, I'm not getting any savings back because they moved their customer service operations to India.  Where is all the money that these companies are saving going?  It's going to the $35 million dollar salaries they give their executives.  (It could be going to the NY Yankees too... I'm not sure where their money comes from.)  We should give the executives of these companies who move their operations to India an Indian salary.

I'll agree that lowering operating expenses sometimes results in cheaper goods, which means every family in America can have 2 computers at home instead of 1.  But really, if we all start losing our jobs, who's going to buy those computers, even if they're dirt cheap?
